In the first nine months of 2024, the cargo volume of Chinese ports, including sea and river ports, increased by 3.4% year-on-year to 12.97 billion tons. In September, cargo volume also showed a 1.3% increase, reaching 1.46 billion tons.
The cargo volume of sea ports during this period increased by 3.5%, reaching 8.37 billion tons. In September, sea ports increased their cargo volume by 0.5% year-on-year to 836.7 million tons.
In 2023, the total cargo volume of China’s sea and river ports reached 16.97 billion tons, an increase of 8% compared with 2022.
