CPK has received a location solution for a nearly 1-kilometer-long high-speed rail section in western Warsaw, part of which will run through a tunnel in the Warszawa Zachodnia area. This section is of strategic importance, as it will serve as an exit from the capital toward CPK Airport and Łódź, where construction of a long outer tunnel is already underway. The Warsaw-Łódź line is part of the “Y” trunk line of the high-speed rail network, the implementation of which is being coordinated by CPK.

The planned section will be directly integrated with the PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe infrastructure, designed with CPK’s investments in mind. Design of the 140-kilometer high-speed rail line between Warsaw and Łódź is in its final stages. The company has already submitted eight of the twelve location solutions and has received all environmental permits and nine of the fourteen water legislation permits. The Warsaw-Łódź section is the first to be included in the voluntary real estate buyback program: CPK has already acquired over 151 land plots totaling 159 hectares, with over 95% of the rights holders participating.

As part of the Warsaw-Łódź HSR project, CPK plans to hold eight tenders, including six for the main construction works and two for traffic control systems, telecommunications, and the overhead line. Once operational, the line will reduce travel time between Warsaw and Łódź to approximately 40 minutes, and CPK Airport will be accessible from the capital in less than 20 minutes. The opening of this section is scheduled for the end of 2032, coinciding with the launch of CPK Airport, with EU funding under the CEF 2 program. Full completion of the “Y” line, including the routes to Poznań and Wrocław, is scheduled for the end of 2035, and the total funding for CPK rail projects through 2032 exceeds PLN 76 billion.
