Logistics company DACHSER is investing in the expansion of its Hegau-Bodensee hub in Steißlingen, located near Switzerland. The project will include the construction of a new 8,950 m² warehouse with a storage capacity of 22,000 pallets. The company will also modernize its existing transit terminals for handling industrial and consumer goods, as well as food products, to meet growing demand from customers in the industrial and retail sectors. Completion is scheduled for early 2027, with the creation of 30 to 50 new jobs.
The new warehouse will be equipped with modern equipment and will provide a full range of logistics services, including small component storage, product rework, and labeling. Once completed, the combined capacity of DACHSER’s warehouses in Steißlingen and the Singen area will increase from over 45,000 to 67,000 pallet spaces. At the same time, the company is expanding its terminals: the industrial cargo handling area will increase to 9,350 m², and the food refrigeration capacity will increase to 4,200 m². The project also includes expanded office and common areas.
DACHSER places a particular emphasis on sustainability and energy infrastructure. As part of the project, the company will increase its grid connection capacity from 720 to 3,200 kW, accelerating the adoption of electric transport. Charging stations for electric trucks and port equipment will be installed on the site, and solar power plants will be expanded – the photovoltaic system’s capacity will increase from 163 to 493 kW, with room for further expansion. The Hegau-Bodensee center, which has been in operation since 2009 and employs approximately 375 people, handles approximately 900,000 shipments annually, weighing approximately 550,000 tons.
