DB InfraGO has invested more than 19 billion euros in the development of Germany’s railway infrastructure by 2025.

German rail infrastructure operator DB InfraGO, part of the Deutsche Bahn Group, has summarized its 2025 results, reporting infrastructure projects worth over €19 billion. During the year, the company built and renovated 2,173 km of track, replaced 2,065 switches, and modernized 950 stations out of the approximately 5,700 stations in the national network.

Significant attention was paid to digitalization and improving the reliability of train control: 60 modern microprocessor-based interlocking systems were commissioned, significantly exceeding the previous year’s figure of 40 such systems. As part of these projects, 4,025 floor-mounted devices were also installed, ensuring more precise and safer control of the rail infrastructure.

The year’s key projects included the large-scale reconstruction of the Hamburg-Berlin highway, the commissioning of new and modernized sections of the Berlin-Dresden (Dresdner Bahn) and Berlin-Halle (Anhalter Bahn) lines, and the restoration of the Ahrtalbahn line in the Ahr Valley after devastating flooding. However, the pace of implementation of the European Train Control System (ETCS) remains limited: by 2025, it had been deployed on only 157 km, bringing the total length of ETCS-enabled lines in Germany to 683 km.
