DHL Express increases investment in fleet and sorting capacity ahead of peak season.

DHL Express is increasing investment in transport and sorting capacity ahead of the year-end peak season, expecting demand for express services to increase. The company is investing more than €100 million in the fourth quarter to support its customers’ growth, and is also expanding its fleet with eight new Boeing 777 freighters. Global e-commerce is expected to grow by 8.8% in 2024, remaining a key driver of volume, while B2B shipments are gradually recovering.

DHL Express’s key investments include increasing its air capacity with new large and medium-sized aircraft, as well as additional flights on intercontinental routes, especially from China. The company is also expanding sorting capacity in its ground networks and hubs such as Copenhagen, Cologne, Paris, Atlanta and Brussels to provide flexible flight schedules and the ability to reroute shipments during high congestion or supply chain disruptions.

In addition to increasing transport capacity, DHL Express continues to implement its long-term emissions reduction goals. The company is renewing its fleet and offering customers sustainable solutions through the DHL GoGreen Plus service. Cooperation with partners such as World Energy and Neste enables the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), reducing CO2e emissions, which is certified for customers.
