Estonia is accelerating the construction of Rail Baltica: the Ülemiste terminal will open this summer.

The Rail Baltica project in Estonia is reaching a new level: contracts have already been signed for the construction of 103 km of embankments and engineering structures, some of which are currently under construction. This year, Rail Baltic Estonia plans to sign a contract for the construction of the main line, which will run across the entire country. Design work is also ongoing, and the partial opening of the Ülemiste passenger terminal in Tallinn is scheduled for June.

Particular attention is paid to exchanging experiences: in April, a delegation from Estonian Railways visited Rail Baltica construction sites in Lithuania, including the iconic bridge over the Neris River. According to representatives of the Estonian side, getting to know such objects helps to better understand the challenges of large-scale construction and improve their own approaches to upgrading infrastructure.

In the Ülemiste terminal, named Linda by a public vote, European 1435 mm wide rails have already been laid, and the installation of four tracks is ongoing. The facility, designed by the famous Zaha Hadid Architects, will become an important part of the route for passengers traveling across the Baltic. Completion of construction is scheduled for 2028, the total cost of the project is 200 million euros.

In March, the Estonian company Verston Eesti OÜ, which has already received four contracts from Rail Baltic Estonia, visited LTG Infra construction sites in Lithuania and examined the operation of geotechnical monitoring systems. Currently, 46.3 km of railway infrastructure is under construction in Lithuania, and by the end of the year, this figure is planned to increase to 114 km.

Rail Baltica is the largest railway project in the history of the Baltic States and a strategic initiative of the European Union and LTG Group. It will connect Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia with Central and Western Europe, ensuring integration, sustainable logistics and dual – civilian and military – use.
