Euroports Inland Terminals, a leading Walloon inland terminal operator with an annual cargo throughput of approximately 5 million tonnes across 10 sites, announced the opening of a new facility: 3R-PORT Engis Terminal 1. The terminal is located on the Meuse River and serves the Walloon industrial corridor, providing direct connections for road, rail, and inland transport. The facility is part of the Liège port area, Belgium’s largest inland port and a key European logistics hub, connected to Antwerp via the Albert Canal and to Rotterdam via the Julian Canal.
The new terminal is equipped with modern warehouse infrastructure with digital management systems designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions. 3R-PORT Engis Terminal 1 features specialized storage facilities for SEVESO oxide materials, as well as lime and dolomite, meeting the needs of metal processing and lime production companies. An environmental approach is embedded in all cargo handling and storage processes, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainable logistics.
The terminal’s trimodal configuration allows for the flexible redistribution of cargo flows between different modes of transport, reducing logistics costs and the carbon footprint per ton of cargo transported. Operational commissioning is scheduled for the end of April 2026. The project is seen as a significant investment in the Walloon economy, creating jobs, strengthening the region’s position as a logistics hub between Northern European ports and the continent’s industrial centers, and expanding the Euroports network along the Meuse River corridor.
