According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, 322.2 million tons of freight were transported by all modes of transport in Ukraine in 2025, a 9% decrease compared to 2024. This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. The decrease was recorded across key modes of transport, reflecting the overall slowdown in the freight market.
Rail transport carried 161.3 million tons of freight during the reporting period, a 7.8% decrease compared to the previous year. Road transport transported 125.2 million tons, a 2.8% decrease year-on-year. Thus, rail and road transport retained their leading positions in the freight transportation structure despite the negative dynamics.
Passenger transportation saw a slight increase in January-December 2025, with 2,185.7 million passengers using transport services, a 0.4% increase compared to 2024. The largest volumes were accounted for by urban electric transport – 1,189.4 million passengers (-0.6%) and automobile transport – 932.6 million (+4.2%). Meanwhile, long-distance rail transport will carry 28 million passengers in 2025.
