HHLA Project Logistics has successfully completed its first loading operation in the Port of Hamburg. The subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), which specialises in project cargo in Asia, has carried out an order in Germany for the first time and benefits from the experience and network of the HHLA Group. The cooperation with UNIKAI Lagerei- und Speditionsgesellschaft played a key role in the project.
The operation involved handling six passenger rail cars, ranging in length from 17 to 22 metres and weighing between 20 and 47 tonnes, as well as their bogies. The cars, manufactured in China, were transported by sea to Hamburg. At the Wallmann & Co terminal, they were reloaded onto river vessels and transported to the O’Swaldkai universal terminal, where UNIKAI carried out further handling. After customs clearance, the wagons were assembled on the terminal’s own tracks for shipment by rail to the Czech Republic.
HHLA Project Logistics CEO Korneli Korchilava emphasized the importance of the project: “With the support of our partners within the HHLA Group and other reliable specialists, we were able to complete this job quickly and smoothly.”
