Marking a strategic revival in its European network, South Korean shipping giant HMM has re-established its nautical ties with the Slovenian port of Koper. This recent development, taking place in the late summer of 2023, sees HMM introducing a new route that includes a connecting transshipment via Piraeus. Through this Greek port, HMM extends direct services to various Asian and Indian harbors, riding on the Far East – India – Mediterranean (FIM) service route.
The reintroduced service is garnering attention for offering particularly competitive transit times for shipments from and to Indian ports, including prominent locations such as Nhava Sheva and Mundra. This development is a notable return for HMM to Luka Koper, reminiscing its previous engagement from 2010 to 2012, when it was integral to a four-carrier alliance connecting Koper with Asian markets.
