JCL Logistics launches first all-electric container route.

JCL Logistics, together with Contargo Combitrac and Tchibo, has launched the first all-electric container transport between Hof (Bavaria) and Cheb (Bohemia). Since August, two of the four new 40-tonne electric Volvo FH Electric trucks have been test driving on the approximately 50-kilometre route, which is an important part of Tchibo’s non-food supply chain. The trucks have an output of 666 hp and a range of up to 300 kilometres, enabling up to 50% of the transport on this route to be carried out with minimal environmental impact.

The organisation and coordination of the entire transport chain is carried out by JCL Logistics, which has been using environmentally friendly rail transport for the delivery of 45-foot containers for three years now. Three electric trains run weekly between Bremen and Hof or Regensburg. At the terminal in Hof, the containers are handled by Contargo Combitrac, with diesel trucks partly replaced by electric ones.

The project aims to fully electrify the route in the near future, which will be a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly freight transportation.
