The first meeting of the Working Group on Freight Transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) was held at the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan with the participation of representatives of Kazakhstan and China. At the meeting, the parties discussed the projected volumes of freight traffic from China to Europe and back until 2029, with the aim of increasing the number of container trains on the route. In 2025-2026, it is planned to launch up to 600 trains per year, with a subsequent increase to 2,000 trains by 2029.

To ensure the growth of transportation volumes, Kazakhstan will take measures to improve port infrastructure. It is predicted that in 2025 the country will handle at least 50 thousand standard containers, and in 2026-2029 this figure will increase to 85 thousand containers per year. In 2023, the volume of transportation has already amounted to 2.76 million tons, which is 65% higher than in 2022.

The Kazakh side also announced plans to implement a number of infrastructure projects, including the construction of second tracks on the Dostyk-Moiynty railway section, the creation of a container hub in the port of Aktau, and the launch of a grain terminal in the port of Kuryk. These initiatives will help increase the port capacity to 30 million tons per year and strengthen bilateral transport relations with China.
