Kazakhstan and Pakistan are strengthening cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.

During the state visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a number of intergovernmental documents were signed aimed at expanding cooperation in the transport and logistics sector. Specifically, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan and the Federal Ministry of Maritime Affairs of Pakistan, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Ministry of Railways of Pakistan. Furthermore, a cooperation agreement was signed between the ports of Aktau and Karachi on information exchange and professional development.

The documents envisage the implementation of joint projects aimed at strengthening trade and economic ties and increasing transit traffic. During the talks, the parties emphasized Pakistan’s growing role as a key logistics and transit hub in the region, which opens up additional opportunities for Kazakhstan to access international markets and diversify export routes.

Special attention was paid to the potential of the ports of Karachi and Gwadar, as well as the development of the North-South international transport corridor and transit routes through Afghanistan. Among the priority areas is the development of a railway project along the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route, which is considered a strategic element in expanding regional transport integration.
