A video conference was held in Kazakhstan between the new National Secretary of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, Mr. Bektassov S.B., and the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of TRACECA, Mr. Assavbayev A.A. The meeting discussed Kazakhstan’s participation in TRACECA initiatives, as well as the prospects for developing the routes of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia International Transport Corridor.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the practical application of the CIM/SMGS consignment note, the assessment of checkpoints on the corridor and the implementation of the Action Plan for 2022-2026. The positions of Kazakhstan on the draft Memorandum of Cooperation with OTIF and the country’s readiness to sign the Agreement on the Single Transit Permit proposed by Azerbaijan were also discussed.
Secretary General Assavbayev emphasized the readiness of the Permanent Secretariat to provide comprehensive support and assistance for the implementation of the common goals of TRACECA. For his part, the National Secretary of Kazakhstan confirmed his readiness for close cooperation and implementation of the decisions taken.
