Khorgos checkpoint strengthens its position as a key logistics hub on the border of Kazakhstan and China.

The Khorgos checkpoint has demonstrated steady growth in cargo traffic: 22.2 million tons of cargo were transported through it in the first half of 2025, which is 4.3% more than in the same period last year. According to the Khorgos Customs, it has become the leader in terms of cargo volume among all checkpoints in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, which is due to the active modernization of logistics processes and close cooperation with Kazakhstan in the railway and automobile sectors.

The main imports through Khorgos are electromechanical equipment, copper, food, agricultural products and metal ore, while food supplies continue to grow. Electric vehicles, high-tech electronics, textiles and clothing predominate in the export structure. The introduction of digital solutions and reform of customs procedures make it possible to speed up cargo processing and increase throughput.

Khorgos plays a strategic role in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, strengthening Kazakhstan’s position as a transit bridge between China and Europe. The growth of transportation through this hub strengthens the region’s logistical stability and opens up new opportunities for business and foreign economic activity.
