In the first quarter of 2025, 2,375 freight trains passed through the Kazakh station of Khorgos, which is 28.5% more than in the same period last year. The volume of transported cargo reached 3.336 million tons, which is 26% more than the figures for the beginning of 2024. This became a record for the first quarter in the history of the station.
Today, 87 routes pass through Khorgos, connecting China with 18 countries and 46 cities. The total train traffic from China to Central Asia also shows growth – 3,582 trains were recorded, which is 25.5% more than a year earlier.
Additionally, activity at the interstate connecting point “Altynkol – Khorgos” increased: in January-February alone, 1.2 million tons of cargo were sent from Kazakhstan to China (+37%). In March, by agreement between KTZ Express and China Railway Container, the number of trains received daily on the section was increased from 8 to 15, which contributes to a further increase in transportation volumes.
