JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) announced plans to complete the construction of five new terminals by 2025 and four more by 2026. This decision is aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan’s transit potential, increasing transportation volumes and stabilizing prices for cargo transportation, the company’s press service reported.
Currently, KTZ uses five terminals, including the largest dry port in Xi’an, China, which provides 40% of container cargo. The adopted strategy of accelerated infrastructure development allowed the company to achieve significant growth in transit traffic.
Over three years, the volume of container traffic increased by 30%: from 1 million TEU in 2021 to 1.3 million in 2024. Transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) increased 25 times, which emphasizes the key role of KTZ in the development of regional logistics.
