JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy presented the project “High-precision positioning of mobile diagnostic tools (MSD)”, aimed at improving traffic safety and optimizing infrastructure maintenance. Thanks to the new system, the accuracy of detecting faults on the tracks has been improved to one meter, which significantly reduces the time to eliminate them.
The project was launched in 2022 and has already passed three pilot stages, within which video cameras, satellite GNSS receivers and specialized software were used. These technologies make it possible to identify objects of the backbone network and accurately tie them to the track ordinate for digital track certification. The results of the analysis are also used in the TripOptimizer project, which develops optimal locomotive traction control modes.
To date, data has been processed for 5,000 km of non-electrified sections. In the future, KTZ plans to scale the system to the entire railway network of the country, ensuring increased labor productivity and minimizing the influence of the human factor.
