KTZ recorded record grain transportation volumes in 2025.

By the end of 2025, grain transportation volumes across the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy network exceeded 14.3 million tonnes, a 31% increase compared to 2024 and the highest level in the past ten years. Export shipments reached 11 million tonnes (+33%), while domestic shipments increased by 26% to exceed 3.3 million tonnes. Significant growth was recorded on routes to Central Asian countries—up 30% to 6.3 million tonnes, including a doubling of shipments to Kyrgyzstan, a 12% increase to Tajikistan, and a 32% increase to Uzbekistan.

KTZ also reported significant increases on other international routes. Grain shipments to Azerbaijan tripled, to Iran by 69%, and to Afghanistan by 63%. Shipments to the Baltic countries increased sixfold, exceeding 800,000 tons, while deliveries to Black Sea and Baltic ports grew by 49% and 67%, respectively. In the 2025–2026 marketing year (September–December 2025), grain shipments totaled 6 million tons (+19%), while exports totaled 4.7 million tons (+18%). December saw a record monthly volume of 1.6 million tons, 14% higher than the previous year.

KTZ also noted growth in shipments to China: grain exports increased by 30%, exceeding 4.2 million tons, while raw grain volumes decreased to 0.8 million tons due to a shift toward higher-value-added products. Containerized feed shipments increased 3.5-fold, reaching 3.1 million tons. Despite the current restrictions, the company ensured stable operations through coordination with relevant agencies and shippers within the framework of the “Grain Headquarters,” and KTZ’s infrastructure and rolling stock fully cover the needs of elevators and the shipment of new-harvest grain.
