KTZ set a five-year record for grain transportation in the first quarter.

In January–March 2025, 3.6 million tons of grain were transported via the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy network — a record figure over the past five years and 49% more than in the same period last year. Exports amounted to 2.8 million tons (+52%), domestic transportation — 788 thousand tons (+38%). A record was also set in March: 1.2 million tons of grain, which is 63% more than in March 2024.

Transportation to Iran showed particularly rapid growth — 18 times through the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, as well as 11 times on all routes. Deliveries to the Baltic countries increased 10 times, to the Black Sea ports — by 35%, to the Baltic ports — by 26%. Export volumes to Central Asia reached 463 thousand tons (+48%), including to Kyrgyzstan – 6 times, to Tajikistan – by 80%, to Uzbekistan – by 28%, to Afghanistan – by 23%.

In addition, in the direction of China, there is an increase in the supply of grain products with high added value – the volume of compound feed for the quarter exceeded 500 thousand tons (+5.5 times). KTZ emphasizes the full readiness of the infrastructure, wagon and locomotive fleet for further growth in transportation and efficient servicing of the grain market.
