LTG Infra expands Rail Baltica construction in Lithuania: new tender starts on Berčiūnai – Joniškielis section.

LTG Infra, the infrastructure division of the Lithuanian railway group LTG, has announced a new tender for the construction of embankments and engineering structures on the Berčiūnai – Joniškielis section. This 12.4 km long section will be part of the large-scale Rail Baltica project, the goal of which is to build 114 km of high-speed railway in Lithuania by 2025.

According to Vytis Žalimas, CEO of LTG Infra, the work is on schedule: by the end of the year, it is planned to sign contracts for the sections from Kaunas to Panevezys and begin preparatory work. In total, tenders have already been announced for 43 km of roadbed and 10 km of overground infrastructure, and a new tender for 24.5 km of the same direction is expected to be launched in the near future.

Antanas Pocus, Mayor of Panevezys District, emphasized the importance of the project for the region and expressed readiness to support the construction of Rail Baltica. In March, a tender was also launched for the construction of a highway that will connect the section under construction Switzerland – Žeimai – Šeta – Ramygala with Kaunas. The 10 km section between Switzerland and Žeimai should be completed by the end of 2025.
