Meeting of the Trans-Caspian Route Countries: Strengthening Cooperation and Developing the Infrastructure of the Middle Corridor.

A meeting of the heads of delegations from countries participating in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) was held on the sidelines of the New Silk Way Forum. The event was attended by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev, Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov, and Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Gennady Arveladze.

The participants emphasized the key role of the Middle Corridor in creating sustainable transport links between Europe and Asia. They discussed prospects for modernizing infrastructure, expanding trade, and enhancing the route’s competitiveness amid growing demand for alternative logistics routes.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a protocol and an action plan to eliminate bottlenecks along the route, which calls for coordinated efforts by the railway administrations of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. In addition, the EBRD and Aktau International Sea Trade Port JSC signed an agreement to finance the modernization of port infrastructure and the acquisition of STS cranes. These agreements are aimed at improving transportation efficiency and strengthening the transit potential of the Middle Corridor.
