Mercitalia Intermodal, part of the FS Italiane group, will continue the technological modernization of 180 freight cars this year. The company is actively implementing digital solutions, increasing the efficiency of its transportation.
Over the past two years, with the support of the Austrian technology company PJM, about 200 cars have been updated, mainly T3000 models. The digital transformation process began back in 2017, and today more than a third of the Mercitalia Intermodal freight car fleet is already equipped with intelligent systems.
The modernization is carried out with an emphasis on digital monitoring and automated processes. For this, the innovative WaggonTracker system from the Austrian developer PJM is used, which allows real-time monitoring of the condition of cars and improves transportation safety.
