Logistics operator METRANS has begun integrating electric loaders for first- and last-mile transportation in cities and suburbs, where reducing noise and emissions is especially important. The new vehicles will be part of the company’s strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and improve air quality in densely populated areas.
According to METRANS CEO Peter Kiš, electric loaders are not only cutting-edge technology, but also the company’s contribution to sustainable development and care for customers and society. The vehicles will complement METRANS’s existing environmentally friendly projects in rail and multimodal transportation, which are aimed at transferring freight flows from roads to rails.
Volvo Trucks is a partner in the project, having supplied the FH Electric model. As John Muldoon, CEO of Volvo Group Czech Republic, noted, this truck combines power and zero emissions, fully meeting the requirements of modern logistics. The introduction of electric loaders also supports the HHLA Group’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040.
