Mersin International Port (MIP), a joint venture between PSA International, IFM and Akfen, has completed the first phase of its $455 million East Med Hub 2 (EMH2) project. The key milestone was the delivery of a new 880-metre-long berth with a draft of 17.5 metres, which will be able to service next-generation vessels.
The inauguration took place on 29 May in the presence of senior Turkish officials, industry representatives and the diplomatic corps, including Mersin Governor Atilla Toros, representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and the Embassy of Singapore. It was also announced that all dredging work had been completed.
PSA International Regional Director for Europe, Mediterranean and South Asia Vincent Ng highlighted MIP’s important role in the group’s hub-to-network strategy and decarbonisation by 2050. MIP CEO Ajay Kumar Singh added that the EMH2 project will not only be a growth driver for the terminal, but also a significant contribution to Turkey’s sustainable development and economy. Full completion of the works is scheduled for 2026.
