Oman’s flag carrier Oman Air has become a full member of the global airline alliance Oneworld, bringing its membership to 15, effective July 1, 2025. The strategic move opens up new routes and opportunities for the airline, particularly in the Gulf and South Asia. Oneworld CEO Nat Pieper said Oman Air’s entry will strengthen the alliance’s network and make travel more convenient for customers.

Oman Air is based in Muscat and flies to 42 destinations non-stop, with codeshare agreements allowing it to expand its reach to 96 more cities. Its fleet consists of 32 Boeing aircraft, including B787-9s and B737MAXs, with deliveries set to continue in 2025–26. As part of its alliance, Oman Air continues to implement a four-year transformation program aimed at returning to profitability after a series of loss-making years.

As part of the restructuring, the number of employees has already been reduced from 4.2 thousand to 3.1 thousand employees. The new partnership with Oneworld will allow the airline to offer passengers more opportunities for connections, bonus accumulation and comfortable flights with the world’s leading air carriers, including British Airways, Qatar Airways, Japan Airlines and American Airlines.
