Alpacem has integrated the Koralm Railway into its logistics chain in cooperation with ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG), expanding its market coverage and reducing transport times.

The cooperation between Alpacem and RCG has been ongoing since 2019. It includes multimodal round trips of clinker and granulated blast-furnace slag using the MOBILER system, with shipments moving between the company’s locations in Wietersdorf (Carinthia) and Peggau (Styria).

Over time, the volume of traffic moved by rail has increased, including shorter-distance shifts from road to rail. Current operations include single wagonload deliveries to Italy and inbound deliveries from Austrian suppliers to Wietersdorf, using the TransFER Villach–Italy route.

The launch of the Koralm Railway has changed the structure of Alpacem’s rail transport, offering a new link along the Baltic–Adriatic Corridor. It opens further procurement and distribution options, adding capacity and route flexibility for cross-border logistics.

Alpacem operates in the cement, concrete and raw material sectors, supplying the construction industry from eight locations in southern Austria. The company employs 760 people across 29 sites in Austria, Italy, and Slovenia, and is part of the Wietersdorfer Group.
