Investment company Realterm and Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ), Germany’s second-busiest airport by cargo volume, have announced the construction of a new 45,000 m² cargo terminal. The facility will be customizable for one or more operators, with direct access to the apron, a convenient truck area, and a flexible layout for express, e-commerce, and general cargo.

According to Realterm Senior Vice President Lynn Kau, this is one of the most strategically valuable logistics real estate offerings in Europe: “It combines modern functionality, 24-hour access, and an ideal location.”

The project will be a continuation of Realterm’s international experience gained at major US airports such as JFK and O’Hare.

In 2024, LEJ handled 1.4 million tons of cargo and continues to increase its volumes. As Frank Pieper, Senior Vice President of operator Mitteldeutsche Flughafen, noted, the new terminal will strengthen Leipzig’s position as a sustainable multimodal hub and strengthen the region’s logistical connectivity with Europe.
