In January-February 2025, the cargo turnover of the Port of Shanghai exceeded 9.3 million tons, which is 1% more than the same period last year. Container turnover showed a 7% increase and amounted to 8.9 million TEU.
At the end of 2024, Shanghai became the first port in the world to exceed the 50 million TEU mark. The port’s total cargo turnover increased by 3%, reaching 580.5 million tons, and container turnover increased by 4.9% to 51.5 million TEU.
Shanghai continues to strengthen its position as the world’s largest container hub, demonstrating stable growth dynamics and expanding its capabilities for international transportation.
