In January-July 2024, the port of Singapore’s cargo throughput increased by 7% year-on-year to 366.87 million tonnes. In particular, transshipment of bulk oil cargo increased by 4.9% to 117.46 million tonnes, while bulk cargo handling increased by 35.1% to 17.3 million tonnes.
At the same time, general non-containerized cargo handling decreased by 4.5% to 14.7 million tonnes. Container throughput at the port increased by 6% to 23.82 million TEU.
The overall growth in cargo throughput confirms Singapore’s strengthening position as a key transport hub in the region.
