The Kołobrzeg seaport on the Baltic Sea is planning large-scale dredging and widening of the main channel, which will allow it to receive ships up to 130 meters long instead of the current 100 meters. The project includes reconstruction of infrastructure, including 250 meters of the embankment, and updating access to the port channel, which is managed by the Szczecin Maritime Authority.

The work will cover areas owned by three owners: the Polish Ministry of Defence (71%), the Szczecin Maritime Authority (16%) and the Kołobrzeg Port Authority (13%). The project will be coordinated by the city company that manages the port. According to Artur Lijewski, head of the port authority, coordinated actions by all parties are necessary to effectively use the potential of the port and its infrastructure.

The modernization will also open up opportunities for developing new areas, such as servicing offshore wind farms and creating a Maritime Operations Centre in the military port. The project is already accompanied by tenders, and the initiators are counting on multi-channel financing related to the defense and energy transformation of Poland.
