At the end of July, the first container vessel Enforcer docked at the Baltic hub of the Port of Gdansk as part of the new Scandinavia West Coast Express (SWX) service connecting Poland with Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania. The weekly route, which includes the ports of Gothenburg, Aarhus, Klaipeda and Gdansk, is designed to improve the efficiency of shipping and become an environmentally friendly alternative to road transport.
The SWX service provides a direct connection between Scandinavia and the southern part of the Baltic, as well as integration with short sea lines in Gdansk and Klaipeda and CMA CGM’s Far East routes calling at the Baltic hub. Container ships will arrive in Gdansk every Sunday, and the passage time to Gothenburg will be only 4 days.
The Port of Gdansk already serves four direct ocean services to Asia, including the largest lines of CMA CGM, MSC and the Ocean Alliance. The inclusion of the Polish port in the global networks of leading operators has contributed to the growth of container turnover and has strengthened its status as a key hub of the Baltic Sea and a strategic gateway to Central and Eastern Europe.
