On September 23, Hamburg Port Marketing hosted a reception in Stuttgart for approximately 120 guests from business, politics, and logistics, dedicated to strengthening economic ties between Baden-Württemberg and the Port of Hamburg. Hamburg State Councilor Andreas Rickhoff, Director General of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs Michael Kleiner, and Director General of the Baden-Württemberg Transport Authority Berthold Fries addressed the event, emphasizing the importance of Germany’s largest universal port for the export-oriented southern region.
Baden-Württemberg is one of the key hubs of the Port of Hamburg, with a developed industry in the mechanical engineering, chemicals, electronics, and automotive sectors, closely integrated into global trade. In 2024, approximately 380,000 TEUs were transported between Hamburg and the region, 320,000 of which were by rail.
Hamburg Port Marketing CEO Axel Mattern noted the strategic importance of Baden-Württemberg for the port, while Michael Kleiner emphasized that exports account for 37% of the region’s GDP, highlighting the need for reliable international logistics connections.
