The Port of Shanghai handled more than 4.7 million TEU in June, the third highest volume in history.

The world’s largest container port of Shanghai handled over 4.7 million TEU in June 2025, the third-highest volume in the port’s history. Although growth was only 1.1% compared to June last year, analysts attribute the slowdown to the early start of the high season, while in May the growth rate reached 10%.

The port previously reached historical highs in July 2024 (4.86 million TEU) and in December 2023 (4.76 million TEU). Despite a slight slowdown in growth in June, the total transshipment volume for the first half of 2025 reached an impressive 51.5 million TEU, compared to 49.2 million TEU in the same period last year.

These figures confirm the Port of Shanghai’s sustainable leadership in global container logistics and highlight its key role in global supply chains, especially against the backdrop of changing seasonal and market trends.
