During the year of operation of the temporary sea route, known as the “Ukrainian corridor”, 2,379 ships delivered Ukrainian cargo to 46 countries of the world, transporting 64.4 million tons, of which 43.5 million tons were agricultural products.
Despite regular Russian shelling, security forces continue to ensure the safety of the sea route for civilian ships. In addition, there are two main risk insurance instruments for shipowners whose ships are sent to or from Ukrainian ports. The first is risk insurance by leading global insurance companies with the support of the UK government, which allows for risk coverage at the level of 1-1.25% of insurance premiums. The second is guarantees for compensation for damage to charterers and ship operators in the territorial waters of Ukraine.
Since March 15, 2024, the Ukrainian corridor passing through the ports of Greater Odessa has switched to a 24-hour mode of operation, which has increased exports by 20%.
