USAID and Maersk begin cooperation to develop the Trans-Caspian Corridor.

USAID and Maersk have entered into a partnership to improve the efficiency and sustainability of the Middle Corridor and expand Georgia’s transit potential in the Trans-Caspian Corridor.

USAID Mission Director John A. Pennel opened the event. Speakers included Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Guram Guramishvili, Maersk Business Development Manager for Central Asia and the Caucasus Irakli Danelia, and USAID Economic Management Program Manager Natalya Beruashvili. The event was attended by members of the Georgian Parliament, representatives of the Ministries of Economy and Sustainable Development, Finance, Customs, as well as land and sea transport and railways agencies, the World Bank and various business associations.

Following presentations by USAID and Maersk on their activities in the Middle Corridor, there was a panel discussion on containerization of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian Corridor and a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between the USAID and Maersk Economic Management Program. According to it, USAID and Maersk Georgia LLC will jointly support the development of the transport and logistics sector in Georgia and promote the Trans-Caspian Corridor through conferences and meetings with public and private partners.
