A trilateral meeting was held in the Romanian city of Galati, which was attended by representatives of Ukraine, Romania and the European Commission within the framework of the “Road of Solidarity” initiative. The State Enterprise “Authority of Sea Ports of Ukraine” was represented by the head of the enterprise Oleksandr Semirga. The parties focused on strengthening cooperation in the Danube region, developing logistics and shipping safety, as well as improving digital interaction between port authorities through the PRIMUS platform.

The event was also attended by the leadership of the Lower Danube Authority, the Ministry of Transport of Romania, the Danube Commission and the Directorate-General for Transport of the European Commission, headed by Alan Baron. Representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Regional Development and the Embassy of Ukraine in Romania joined the discussions.

The participants agreed to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding, which will become the basis for a strategic partnership. As Semirga emphasized, it was the Danube ports that became Ukraine’s key logistics hub in Europe, and therefore the expansion of transparent and technological cooperation is critically important in wartime and on the path to Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
