Vale has chosen the port of Tarragona to supply iron ore to the Mediterranean.

One of the world’s largest iron ore mining companies, Vale, has chosen the Port of Tarragona and Euroports for its new logistics operations to supply steel plants in the Mediterranean. The first shipment was marked by the arrival of the Magsenger 10, which delivered over 110,000 tonnes of iron ore from the Brazilian port of Ponta da Madeira.

Vale chose the Port of Tarragona due to the high quality of its infrastructure and Euroports’ experience in handling bulk cargo. The support of the port authorities, customs and captaincy, as well as Euroports’ investments in the development of its operations and environmental projects, played an important role in its decision.

The iron ore delivered to Tarragona will be the basis for the production of steel, essential for industries such as construction, automotive and mechanical engineering. Euroports also aims to replace coal with ore, pursuing a more sustainable development path.
