voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH and ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) have received funding from the Austrian Ministry of Climate, Environment and Technology (BMK) to implement a pilot project for the digitalization of rail logistics at the Donawitz plant. The project aims to optimize the supply chain and process management, including the implementation of innovative data collection systems and the creation of interfaces to integrate all participants.
The voestalpine Stahl Donawitz plant, one of the largest railway hubs in Austria, will be the pilot site for this project. RCG, a leader in rail logistics, will work on developing scalable solutions for the digitalization of processes along the entire value chain. This will reduce resource costs, increase efficiency and create a more transparent information environment.
The project promises not only to improve logistics processes, but also to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, increase resource efficiency and create modern jobs. The knowledge gained will be used for other clients and projects, including LogServ in Linz, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of rail transport in Austria.
