For example, in Genoa, a transshipment fee has been in effect since last year, varying from 120 to 180 euros per trip. Livorno is the next port where carriers have decided to shift part of the costs to customers.<\/p>\n<p>Market participants fear that such surcharges may reduce the attractiveness of the port and lead to price dumping: some companies will apply the fee, while others will not.
