As part of the President\u2019s instruction announced at the National Kurultai, preparatory work has begun on the construction of a new \u201cCenter-West\u201d highway, which will connect Astana with the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route via Arkalyk, Turgay and Irgiz. Transport Minister Marat Karabayev personally inspected the progress of the initial stage of the project.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/gruzingeo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/img_2552-1160x653-1.jpeg\" alt=\"The Center-West road and Arkalyk airport: new projects for transit development.\" class=\"wp-image-12069\" title=\"Air The Center-West road and Arkalyk airport: new projects for transit development.\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u10d9\u10d0\u10d6\u10da\u10dd\u10ef\u10d8\u10e1\u10e2\u10d8\u10e5\u10e1\u10d8<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u201cCenter-West\u201d route will shorten the distance from Astana to the western regions by more than 560 km \u2013 from 1,438 to 865 km. The new highway will pass through 13 settlements, where about 70 thousand people live, and will provide transport accessibility for remote areas of the Akmola, Kostanay and Aktobe regions. It is expected that the road with a two-lane carriageway 8 meters wide will serve up to 3 thousand cars per day.<\/p>\n<p>The second key project will be the restoration of Arkalyk airport. The development of design and estimate documentation is nearing completion, which includes the construction of a new terminal with an area of \u200b\u200b3,200 m\u00b2 and the repair of a 2.5 km runway. It is planned to launch subsidized flights to Astana, Kostanay and Almaty, as well as develop hunting tourism.
