Moller \u2013 Maersk has signed a long-term agreement with LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. for the supply of bio-methanol, which will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the company\u2019s fleet that uses two types of fuel, including methanol. The agreement strengthens Maersk\u2019s strategy to secure alternative fuel sources for its vessels. There are currently seven methanol-powered vessels in operation, and with the new volumes, Maersk aims to meet more than 50% of its fleet\u2019s methanol needs by 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The bio-methanol will be produced at a plant in Xiu Zhang, Central China, from plant residues such as straw and fruit tree prunings. The product meets Maersk\u2019s environmental targets, offering a 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil fuels. The first delivery is expected in 2026, with full production planned for the end of the decade.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership with LONGi, a leading global manufacturer of solar panels and electrolysers, marks another milestone in the collaboration between the companies. The long-term agreement will open up new opportunities for the sustainable development of Maersk\u2019s fleet and help reduce the carbon footprint of global maritime shipping.<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A.P.
