{"id":14383,"date":"2024-10-11T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-11T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gruzingeo.com\/adb-funds-47-million-digitalization-project-for-azerbaijans-railway-network\/"},"modified":"2024-10-11T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T00:00:00","slug":"adb-funds-47-million-digitalization-project-for-azerbaijans-railway-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gruzingeo.com\/ka\/adb-funds-47-million-digitalization-project-for-azerbaijans-railway-network\/","title":{"rendered":"ADB funds $47 million digitalization project for Azerbaijan\u2019s railway network."},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"entry-content\">\n<p>The project will modernize key processes, including freight operations, asset maintenance, and investment planning.<\/p>\n<p>A $47 million loan to help Azerbaijan digitize its railway system and improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the country\u2019s rail networks has been approved by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Through the Azerbaijan Railways Digital Transformation Project, ADB will support Azerbaijan Railways Closed Joint Stock Company (ADY), the national state-owned railway operator, in digitizing key processes. These include managing freight operations, maintaining and repairing assets, and investment planning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cA modernized and digitally enhanced railway system will support Azerbaijan\u2019s key role in connecting the economies of East and Central Asia with the Caucasus and Europe,\u201d said ADB Director General for Central and West Asia Yevgeniy Zhukov.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A system for customers to access information, including shipping prices and tax calculations, will also be developed as part of the project. In addition, the project will fund digital improvements to ADY\u2019s corporate functions, such as budgeting and contract management.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDigitalization is critical to enhancing operational efficiency, improving competitiveness, and fully leveraging Azerbaijan\u2019s role in regional transit corridors,\u201d commented ADB Transport Specialist Nanyan Zhou.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Azerbaijan\u2019s railways are a key node in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridors 2 and 6. These are two of six major economic and trade corridors that criss-cross the region. The project aligns with the CAREC Transport Strategy 2030 and the Railway Strategy for CAREC, 2017-2030.
