Initially skeptical, they eventually embraced the new technology, with a crew on board as a safety measure.<\/p>\n<p>The project addresses the growing shortage of skilled workers in inland waterway shipping by offering a more flexible work-life balance. The prospect of steering a vessel from an office during the day and spending evenings with family could attract more individuals to the profession.
