This growth was driven by the commissioning of a fourth berth and the expansion of vessel calls on Asia-Europe routes as part of the Gemini Cooperation alliance. Compared to 2024, when transhipment volume was 1.9 million TEU, the port\u2019s container throughput increased by more than 52%, strengthening London Gateway\u2019s position as one of the UK\u2019s key container hubs.<\/p>\n<p>Positive growth was also recorded at DP World\u2019s other UK asset, the Southampton terminal, where container throughput exceeded 2 million TEU. Combined, DP World\u2019s container terminals in the UK handled more than 5 million TEU, out of a total national market of over 9 million TEU, confirming the operator\u2019s leading position in the country.<\/p>\n<p>DP World continues its extensive investment in the development of London Gateway. As part of the \u00a31 billion program, two more fully electric berths are being built, bringing the total number to six and allowing them to handle the world\u2019s largest container ships.
