The network serves dairy, agricultural, energy and industrial customers and connects with both Union Pacific and BNSF through Class I interchanges.<\/p>\n<p>The transaction also covers Railpower, a Sierra subsidiary that owns and operates an FRA-approved hydrogen-powered locomotive. Railpower focuses on low-emission locomotive technology within the shortline segment.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"738\" src=\"https:\/\/gruzingeo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/0f41e7adc313d410.jpg\" alt=\"Sierra Railroad has been acquired by Ridgewood Infrastructure.\" class=\"wp-image-19344\" title=\"Europe Sierra Railroad has been acquired by Ridgewood Infrastructure.\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Sierra Railroad<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>CVAT operates agricultural transload facilities serving dairy farmers and other agricultural customers on the Sierra Northern network. The acquisition integrates feed and agricultural product handling with Sierra\u2019s rail operations, expanding transload capacity and rail utilisation.<\/p>\n<p>Ridgewood Infrastructure invests in US transportation, energy, utilities and industrial assets. Sierra Railroad Company has been under the leadership of its current owner since 1995.
