The facility, located at the \u201cAm Volkspark\u201d site, is scheduled for handover in summer 2027 and will centralise infrastructure and maintenance functions currently split across Cologne-Godorf, Wesseling and Br\u00fchl-Vochem.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"664\" src=\"https:\/\/gruzingeo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/1f585c23287e63db.jpg\" alt=\"HGK starts railway depot construction in Br\u00fchl.\" class=\"wp-image-20205\" title=\"Europe HGK starts railway depot construction in Br\u00fchl.\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">HGK AG<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Around 180 employees from HGK\u2019s Infrastructure and Maintenance division will relocate to the new site.<\/p>\n<p>HGK operates approximately 250 km of its own rail infrastructure in Cologne and the surrounding region. The network connects industrial sites with Cologne\u2019s Rhine ports and also carries tram lines 16 and 18, which link Cologne and Bonn.<\/p>\n<p>Maintenance activities at Br\u00fchl-Vochem already include locomotive and wagon workshop services.
