Under a tender announced in March, plans call for the acquisition of up to 20 trainsets, which will operate within the Baltic states, making stops at regional stations. Lithuania intends to order eight trains, Estonia between five and seven, while Latvia is considering the purchase of up to five units of rolling stock.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Estonia, the regional trains will run along the Tallinn\u2013P\u00e4rnu\u2013Ikla route, making 14 stops between the international stations. Looking ahead, the country\u2019s authorities aim to extend the service to Riga, thereby fostering closer transport integration among the countries of the region. According to Elron, Estonia\u2019s passenger rail operator, the new trains will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 km\/h and will have a capacity of approximately 200 passengers, including families with children and travelers with pets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside the procurement of rolling stock, the development of Rail Baltica infrastructure continues. In Latvia, the project faces challenges regarding a funding shortfall; however, authorities emphasize the necessity of proceeding with both construction and operational preparations simultaneously. The final cost of the trains will be determined following the conclusion of the tender procedures.
