The project increased the corridor\u2019s annual freight capacity from 1 million tonnes to 5 million tonnes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The five-phase modernization covered 13 railway stations, 55 bridges, eight traction substations and 320 buildings. It also included engineering structures such as overpasses and crossings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The works included 30.3 km of new track, the construction of a wheelset-changing facility, and the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 153.1 km of existing railway infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The BTK railway opened in 2017 as a rail link between Azerbaijan, Georgia and T\u00fcrkiye.
