Following nine months of construction, the company has commissioned a new area spanning approximately 38,000 square meters \u2013 equivalent to more than five football pitches. This additional space is designated for the storage of both loaded and empty containers, offering greater transport planning flexibility for shipping lines, freight forwarders, and industrial companies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DB Intermodal Services emphasizes that container depots play a pivotal role in ensuring supply chain stability by acting as a link between rail and road transport. The facility expansion will help mitigate the risk of container capacity shortages, reduce response times, and enhance the reliability of logistics processes amidst rising combined transport volumes and global market volatility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project is linked to the ongoing development of the Ulm-Dornstadt transshipment terminal, where capacity is slated to more than double by 2028. Together, the terminal and the new depot will form a major logistics hub, connecting the Ulm, Upper Swabia, and Swabian Jura regions with national and international transport corridors.
